Alma Powell (MS 1970) has served as a teacher, principal, and administrator in the South Bend Community School Corporation and Elkhart Community Schools. Powell led the desegregation plan for South Bend Schools. Later, she served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Elkhart.

Michael Blakesley (BA 1974) is the President of South Bend Emergency Physicians and Assistant Professor in the IU School of Medicine – South Bend, where he was named the 2014 Outstanding Physician of the Year.

Melissa May (BS 1980) is the presiding judge of the 4th District of the Indiana Court of Appeals. She was appointed to the Court of Appeals by Indiana Governor Frank O'Bannon in 1998. Judge May is also an adjunct faculty at Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she teaches a trial advocacy course.

Charlotte Pfeifer (BA 1979; MPA 1981) spent decades in community corrections, including opening the DuComb Center in 1981. She then worked as an administrator at IU South Bend and an associate faculty member in the IU School of Social Work. She was elected to the South Bend Common Council in 1996 and served as its first African American president in 2000.
