NOT For women only...

INTERDISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS OF WOMEN'S ROLE
* A series of lectures, films, & presentations by speakers from a variety of disciplines & from all over the world.
* Each student is assigned to a small discussion group (4-5 people).
Students are required to think independently and NOT thoughtlessly to adopt ideas of speakers and others. Exams (midterm & final) are open book. There is a course booklet in which students briefly and critically analyze each presentation. The class closes at 30.

SAMPLE PROGRAMS FOR SPRING '91
* A new one-hour play on the life of Emma Goldman will be performed by a professional actor, followed by a discussion with her and the playwright.

* Kate Clinton, a lesbian-feminist standup comic, well-known nationally and internationally, will speak on lesbianism.

* A program on Native American Women will present a powerful, new film (narrated by Robert Redford) about two Western Shoshone sisters fighting the U.S . government. Two guest speakers from the Chippewa and Shawnee will also participate.

* Dale Spender, the dazzling and prolific author from Australia, will share an evening program with Mary Kay Blakely, a popular national speaker & writer and a B250 favorite.

* The dynamic Juanita Price from Columbus, Ohio, another B250 favorite, will empower us with her conments on battered women, and she will discuss the new techniques she is promoting.

* Leslie Kanes Weisman, the internationally known feminist architect, will present ideasfi:an her forth-coming book.

* Blanche Wiesen Cook, the distinguished historian (whose first volume of a two-volume biography of Eleanor Roosevelt is soon to be released by Viking Press) will share the podium with Audrey McCluskE¥· and discuss as yet unpublished material on The Friendship of Mary McLeod Bethune & Eleanor Roosevelt.

* B250 fulfills an Arts & Humanities Divisional Requirement. It is required for the Women's Studies Minor.
* B250 presentations arecµn to the public, free of charge. The course is offered every spring semester. There are no prerequisites, but first semester freshmen need special permission to enroll.
