Beginning in 2006, activists working in groups like South Bend Equality put pressure on local goverment at meetings like the one advertised here. Their goal was to add protections for LGBTQ people to the city’s human rights laws. Those laws provide a way for people to address discrimination in the workplace, going to local businesses, and in buying or renting a place to live.
