In 2020, IU South Bend Chancellor Susan Elrod made IU’s commitment to the Center official. Having leased the Natatorium for the previous decade, on January 10, Chancellor Elrod announced that IU had bought the building. Her announcement built upon a decade of efforts by hundreds of IU South Bend and community members, and it solidifies IU South Bend’s support of this Center.
